Why I Love Not Having Kids & Wish People Would Stop Asking Me About it

ā€œKids are great, until theyā€™re yoursā€

Look, I donā€™t hate kids. I actually love them. Mostly just while they are being civil and nice though.

When I was younger I pictured myself as a parent. Turns out, I have never felt that pull they say you get when you are being called to procreate. I might never get it.

And I am totally good with that.

For those that constantly question my childless choice, here are some of the many, many reasons that cross my mind nearly every day, of why I havenā€™t had kids, am glad I donā€™t have kids, and may never have kids:

  • I donā€™t have to worry about something nonstop
  • I can sleep as much as I want
  • I can go on sporadic adventures
  • I can take long or even endless trips
  • I can wander whenever I feel the pull, without time constraints
  • I can put my own health and sanity first
  • I can be the ā€˜fun auntieā€™ with my nieces and nephews and then give them back when they get tired and cranky
  • I can do whatever I want, exactly when I feel like it
  • I donā€™t have to tell anyone what to do
