Maldives Misadventure: A Hazy 40th of Disaster, Druggy Dreams, and Divine Gifts
I thought I had a tropical disease.
Made it to 40 and made it to the Maldives. Both were kinda weird. I learned a lot.
I like pretty beaches so I wanted to do something extra fancy and booked a stay at an island resort in the middle of the Indian Ocean… and was bored after 2 days.
Luckily I couldn’t do much but sleep anyways.
For 36 hours of my fancy birthday trip, I could only sleep for 4–5 hours at a time, wake enough to drag myself through basic things like showering, eating, or walking to the beach or my bed, then sleep again.
For a minute I thought I might have picked up a tropical disease. I felt like I was in a dream, and everything was hazy and wobbly when I was awake, and I had all kinds of trippy dreams ✨ (which I love)🔮
All day on my birthday I tried to do things; I tried to write, I tried to reflect, I tried to think, I tried to talk, I tried to swim (IMAGINE! 😂) and I could not do any of them.
Then it hit me:
THIS IS WHAT 40 IS. YOU’RE JUST DEAD INSIDE NOW, FOREVER.
I took it well and laid down for another nap. 👑🌴👙
